Feels like a fitting time to post to my new page, “happenings.” Not sure if anyone’s noticed that I haven’t posted about my 30-day self-care challenge in quite a while, but there’s a reason for that: I am on my spring break!!! And here’s what I’ve been up to…
I met up with a good friend from my Alexandria/D.C. days, and we stayed in London for six days and five nights—and at a fantastic hotel that served free (and unlimited!!!) wine and cheeses. It was a dream. We went sightseeing, did all of the touristy things, and ate Whole Foods two nights in a row. Tragically, we did not see any famous people. Maybe next time.
Next up was Rome!! I went there with said friend because, like me, she is doing a semester abroad! She was kind enough to let me stay at her apartment in the city, which was so charming and so European—I loved it. I only had two and a half days there, so we had to squeeze in as much as possible, and we did! I can say that I saw the Pantheon, the Colosseum, two piazzas, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps; I ate a lot of gelato; I ate both pizza and pasta; I drank really good Chianti; I had a blast and am definitely planning on returning to Italy sometime in the near future.
And now, I find myself in the south of France, just outside of the Midi-Pyrénées in a town by the name of Larroque. It’s sunny, super windy, and absolutely beautiful. I’m really freakin’ lucky to have close family friends who own a bed and breakfast here, Le Colombier, and so honestly, I feel right at home. Each day has been filled with one of the following: visiting local towns (like Puycelsi, Albi, or St-Antonin), gardening beaucoup, or relaxing and reading the day away. Plus, they have got such a cute and fun dog, Ford, who has become my best bud. I am over-the-moon-happy and have still got three days left before I head back to Bristol!
